Erasmus Policy Statement – University of Radom
Our Erasmus Policy Statement reflects how we intend to implement the Erasmus+ Programme after the award of the ECHE.
This statement explains what we would like to achieve by participating in the Erasmus+ Programme, how participation in Erasmus+ will contribute to the modernisation of our institution, as well as to the objective of building the European Education Area, and outlines the policy objectives we intend to pursue.
The University of Radom is preparing to start organising its first Erasmus+ mobilities starting from 1 June 2025. All relevant procedures have been implemented and made publicly available on the University’s website. We are actively working to expand our network of partner institutions in order to provide students with opportunities for internationalisation.
The goal of the University of Radom is to continuously improve the quality of teaching and to educate highly qualified specialists in the field of Nursing, responding to the needs of the labour market. In order to achieve this, we cooperate with partners in Poland and abroad and provide students with opportunities to study and train abroad, learn foreign languages and gain international experience. At the same time, we aim to create opportunities for internationalisation at home, enabling local students to meet foreign students and academic staff in Poland when mobility abroad is not possible.
Together with our staff members, we are committed to preparing Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) with partner institutions, initially by participating in BIPs organised abroad, learning from this experience and preparing to organise our own BIPs at the University of Radom in the future.
Thanks to international bilateral partnerships, we will be able to offer our students a wider range of opportunities. We choose our international partners based on criteria such as professionalism, compatibility of study programmes, and willingness to cooperate. It is important to continuously build a network of partner institutions and to cooperate in a professional and timely manner in order to offer students the best possible educational opportunities, making use of the benefits of globalisation.
The main criteria for partner selection are:
common ground in teaching content,
correlated learning outcomes and study results in order to prepare the best possible Learning Agreements,
mutual willingness to cooperate and to expand cooperation beyond mobility.
The main goal and the most important objective is to open the minds of our students to other cultures and perspectives, to make them more creative and self-reliant in building their professional careers. This will be achieved by increasing the potential of our staff and presenting new mobility opportunities to our students. We also aim to raise students’ awareness of their environment, promote care for nature, encourage respect for other cultures, and develop understanding of social and economic challenges.
The University will choose partners based on mutual benefits for students and staff, resulting from compatible study modules and learning outcomes, and within the framework of a clear internationalisation strategy.
Students of first- and second-cycle studies will have equal access to the Erasmus+ Programme. There will be no discrimination during the recruitment process, and all students and staff will have equal opportunities based on publicly announced criteria. The University will organise practical placements abroad for students, cooperating with reliable partners such as HR Experts (Greece), HR Job Trust, and partner universities.
Participation of the University of Radom in the Erasmus+ Programme will focus primarily on student and staff mobility. In line with Priority 1 of the Modernisation Agenda, mobility experiences will enhance both the skills and employability of graduates and encourage staff to benefit from different teaching and learning practices. Increased awareness among academic staff of the benefits of mobility is expected to result in higher levels of both student and staff mobility.
To address Priority 2, the University will continue cooperation with professional bodies, healthcare institutions, public organisations and research entities in order to develop curricula and ensure that courses meet labour market and healthcare sector needs. As the University promotes a culture of continuous improvement, participation in the Erasmus+ Programme will allow us to maintain this approach and learn from cooperation with other institutions and individuals. As a result, the entire University, with equal institutional support, will be engaged in the Programme for the benefit of students and staff, thus addressing Priority 3.
With regard to Priority 4, cooperation with industry and healthcare institutions, both regional and international, will be crucial in providing students with as many practical training opportunities as possible. This will enhance graduate employability and allow the University to develop strong cooperation networks between academia and professional practice, including opportunities in Polish institutions for incoming students. In terms of governance and funding, cooperation with international partners will enable benchmarking of current practices and the implementation of improvements.
Such cooperation may also result in collaborative networks and joint applications for funding under Erasmus+ and other programmes.
We believe that all successful partnerships are based on shared commitment and mutual benefit. Our partner institutions reflect diverse needs and priorities, both of our partners and of our students and staff. Many partnerships result from individual academic contacts, while others are established through institutional networks. To encourage the development of new links and further internationalisation of study programmes, we support the extension of Erasmus+ exchanges and actively promote participation among academic staff, with the aim of making mobility an integral or optional element of study programmes.
For mobility activities, partners will be selected based on the compatibility of educational offerings and curricula, ensuring that students can continue their studies without academic delay after returning to the University of Radom.
When organising Blended Intensive Programmes with partner universities, two approaches will be adopted:
– programmes focused on nursing-specific knowledge and skills,
– interdisciplinary courses allowing students to gain broader competencies.
Within the EU, the University will not target specific geographical regions for exchanges. Curriculum compatibility and language of instruction will be the primary factors to ensure maximum academic benefit. Overcoming language and social barriers helps students build confidence and self-esteem.
Erasmus Actions and Implementation
The person responsible for organising Erasmus+ mobility is the Institutional Erasmus Coordinator, working at the central level. The Coordinator manages recruitment and organisation of mobility, cooperates with academic authorities during the preparation of Learning Agreements, monitors recognition, organises BIPs, and ensures dissemination of results.
A three-person Erasmus Committee, designated by the Rector, meets regularly to discuss recruitment, implementation, organisation of international weeks and BIPs, and approval of nominations.
The Erasmus Coordinator cooperates closely with the finance and accounting department to ensure timely payment of grants, proper financial documentation, and correct processing of Learning Agreements, mobility programmes (STA/STT), and declarations related to green travel or fewer opportunities. The Erasmus Office also cooperates with the National Agency in reporting and implementation od KA131 projects.
The Erasmus Office is responsible for all tasks related to KA1 mobility and cooperation with partner institutions. The Rector represents the University and signs bilateral agreements. Learning Agreements are approved by the Dean. Other representatives may be authorised by the Rector when required.
Erasmus Office tasks include:
cooperation with the National Agency,
organisation of mobility and recruitment,
monitoring preparation of Learning Agreements,
monitoring, evaluation and recognition,
applying for funding and reporting,
promotion and dissemination of Erasmus+ activities,
promotion of environmental responsibility,
promotion of language learning through OLS and other tools (https://academy-europa.eu),
coordination of financial agreements and documentation,
support for incoming students, including a buddy system and social integration.
One designated staff member in the accounting department coordinates scholarship payments in accordance with Erasmus+ regulations and agreements with the National Agency. Academic recognition is agreed with students and approved by the Dean based on the Transcript of Records. In case of recognition issues, students may request a second assessment by the Rector.
All students and staff will be members of the “Erasmus+ News” MS Teams channel, where information about recruitment, BIPs, international weeks and signed agreements will be published. Access to information and recruitment will be equal and transparent. We will also install a TV screen close to main enterence with Power Point presentation of news and recruitment details.
Impact and Targets
We are aware that encouraging participation may be challenging. Our aim is to gradually increase the number of outgoing students and staff and to engage in more international initiatives. Communication will be a key factor in ensuring that all students and staff are informed about opportunities and benefits of mobility.
An indicative timeline includes signing agreements with at least five partner universities by December 2026 and doubling this number by June 2027. From 2027 onwards, student and staff mobility will increase systematically.
In the first five years, the University aims to encourage more than 5% of students to participate in long-term mobility and around 10% in Blended Intensive Programmes.
In the long term, the University of Radom plans to establish a stable network of trusted partners, develop an experienced Erasmus Office team, and engage students and alumni in dissemination activities. Erasmus+ will support institutional internationalisation, staff development and continuous improvement through learning from best practices abroad.
